Many thanks to Etienne Monneret to build our method in the fantastic Anabuilder software!

The Analux-3d method

A low-ghosting full color anaglyph method

The Analux-3d method is group of passes in Photoshop. The method is very flexible, for this, you can use it with a large elasticity.

1. Make the anaglyph in Photoshop, this is the first pass. Usually we use the red channel from the left image to make the anaglyphs. The half-anaglyph when we use the desaturated red channel from the left image. In the Analux-3D you can do what you want in this pass, but the experience of Imre is that using the magenta channel, has good results. Otherwise Bernardo uses the desaturated channels.

Here are the images how to do Analux-3D anaglyph in Photoshop using the magenta channel from the left image.

Open the left and right images:

On this point is advisable to set the View-Proof setup on Monitor RGB:

(on the image is visible an anaglyph, but this don't confuse anyone)

Delete the red channel:

Delete the yellow channel, so will rest only the magenta:

The magenta:

Select ALL on the magenta channel and with Ctr-C and Ctr-V paste this channel in the red channel of the right image. After this, with the MOVE TOOL, make a good alignment with the red/cyan glasses on. The alignment is good when the stereo-effect is good and in the same time the ghost are at the minimum.

At this point the anaglyph must be convert to LAB color mode:

In LAB color mode open the Image-Adjustments-Levels...

Opening the Levels is visible this dialog-box. This is the DEGHOSTING pass in the ANALUX-3D method. Move ONLY the marked triangles. We are working only on the LIGHTNESS channel.Move the right  triangle for first. The moving is of course with the red/cyan glasses on! The moving sometimes is little, some millimeters.Move the triangles since you see the minimum ghosts. This pass is the goal of the Analux-3D method, because we change the contrast  without changing the color-balance.

During the deghosting the image becomes ugly, clear and light but this is no important now. After the deghosting convert the image to RGB again:

On this point is advisable to set the View-Proof setup AGAIN on Monitor RGB:

Now the final correction of the deghosted anaglyph has again a large flexibility. Here is the more often used pass.

Go to the Layer-New adjustment layer-Levels:

In the dialog box setup this values:

Mode: Screen  Opacity: 85%

When click the OK button, this dialog box is comes:

The middle triangle must be moved, like on the image is visible. Of course: anaglyph glasses ON!

The adjustment layer function has a big variety. You can use other options (curves, color balance etc..) and can use other Modes (overlay, luminosity etc..) with different Opacity %.  Yea! You can use the Adjustment Layer only on one color too. On the image above you can see that the adjustment is on the all RGB channels. THIS IS THE MORE FLEXIBLE PART OF THE ANALUX-3D.

When you finished this pass, you must flatten the layers:

This is the end but you can do other more corrections.......(brightness/contrast, levels, curves etc..)

Bernardo and me are pleased to share this method with you! We know that the ghosts are normal parts of the anaglyphs but we think that reduce the ghost to the minimum level is joyous work.
