INTRO
For me, Finitribe are one of the best and, sadly, the most underrated groups ever. They started as a six-piece alternative rock/dance unit around 1984 in Scotland, but when they released their latest full-length CD in 1998 (and later, their last single in 2001), only two of the original members remained. Between 1984 and 2001 they experienced with atonal soundscapes, samplers, industrial dance, techno even and trip-hop. Their first CD, Noise, Lust & Fun is a perfect record -but everything they released demands a wider audience, whether it's their cover of Can's 'I Want More' or the overlooked but convincing 'Sleazy Listening' album. Everything they did, they did it with a special touch.
I'll never understand why they didn't went as big as they deserved -maybe they were too weird for popular tastes, too Scottish for the snobbish London scene, or just too ahead of any time.
Ever since I heard their first album, I wanted to pay a tribute to them. So here is my little site, enjoy, and if You have any corrections or donations or anything, just send them to: freshairt(at)hotmail.com
